September 2009

Last night was cool. Played a few sets out by the lyric theater where the Black Crowes were doing their thing. All the drunk, ole miss, hippie types and blondes came and danced all wacko. Pete “baby hands” Maness said that it was different and an adventure. Stefan said that drunk girls dance just about the same everywhere.

Swung by a late jam session where Clifton played Redemption Song by Bob Marley. Smell the patchouli. Made me smile. Four of us in a hotel room later. Snores and foul dreams.

Coffee and eats at Huddle House. Hotty Totty.

We stopped by Canton, Miss to look around. A little bored on the way south to Hattiesburg. Found a sweet old music shop where Mr. Frazier made an unrefusable offer on a sweet marching band hat. Thanks!!

Stefan taking a little snooze. It’s the South. Slow down.

A quick little post when I can to say that we’ve had a terrific month of living. When I’m really in the flow I tend to not be terribly writerly and reflective. No downtime, you know.

But here we are on tour in Memphis and its early in the morning and we’re about to head out for a day of performance. We’re staying with Clifton’s awesome Dad, Pepper. He made us charred steaks and broke out the scotch last night. Today, pancakes and coffee. Family is a wonderful thing, Amen!

About to go rent a Bass from Amro music. Fingers crossed.
