November 2009

Played last night at City Winery with the legendary John McEuen and yes he did play “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” and yes most everyone there knew to sing along. John had met us on The Joey Reynold’s Show about a month ago and asked us to come on down and do a few songs with him. We wound up doing “When I Get Low” featured here in this clip as well as “Down By The Riverside.” That last one featured a dixieland horn break with French Horn (birthday boy, 79 yr old, David Amram) Clarinet (one of John’s band memebers from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and Stefan on Tenor and me on Trumpet. Funtastic. French Horn? Wha? Awesomess.

After the show we got a chance to hang out with Steve Martin a little bit. Steve as many of you know is a killing banjo player and Clifton got Steve to show him how to the Scruggs Roll. That little slight of hand that allows Earl Scruggs to play so dang fast. Steve seemed like many celebrities out in public: maybe a little embarrassed that he’s the center of attention even when he’s not needed to be. He did say that he enjoyed Stefan’s saxing and he shook my hand and told me that he enjoyed our portion of the show.

Over all it was a very fun night filled with all kinds of great performers, many of which have years upon years of experience on stages all over the world. It was great. It felt like an Altman movie back stage. Maybe like “Prarie Home Companion”

We’re on vacation for a few weeks but we’ll be back in effect top of December.
Be well.

We just created a new You Tube Channel. So far there’s a sexy video we made with a burlesque dancer, Veronica Varlow. There’s a clip of a dance event in Amsterdam where DJ Shorty George is playing one of our tracks! There’s also a whole mess of captures from live performances that people from all over the country and from all over the world have been moved to share.

This channel will be growing steadily. Do drop by from time to time:

Your trusty link: Tin Pan Video Network.

Apparently it made a big impact. Here is some more found video courtesy of the fine folks at fiveoutsiders.com. Nice editing!!

We’re gonna do this again tomorrow. That’s to say, Wednesday from 3-6 at the same exact location with the same dancers. Yumsky.

Some more blogging discovered from the lovely Ivy.  She describes us in action at another strange and beautiful locale
